WHAT FLORIDA NATIVE PLANT IS BLOOMING TODAY?: SWEETBROOM; LICORICEWEED (Scoparia dulcis)

Dainty Flowers. Grows to about 1-2 foot tall. Has feint scent of licorice, especially if freshly mowed. Often considered a “weed”.

Use in herbal medicine: Leaves used in treatment of fever, cough, bronchitis and diabetes.
