VIRGINIA BUTTONWEED (Diodia virginiana)

WHAT FLORIDA NATIVE PLANT IS BLOOMING TODAY?: VIRGINIA BUTTONWEED (Diodia virginiana)

sprawling; madder family. Considered a weed by many. it grows in the margins of my pond where many pollinators take advantage of its pretty white flowers.

Its relative poor joe is a recommended recommended species in Arkansas Universitys Bringing Back Bobwhites publication http://www.uaex.edu/Other_Areas/publications/PDF/MP506.pdf I get a lot of bobwhite visiting, so it may not be a stretch to think that they are drawn to the seeds of others in that genus.
