WHAT FLORIDA NATIVE PLANT IS BLOOMING TODAY?: AXILFLOWER (Mecardonia acuminata subsp. peninsularis)  low growing, dainty wildflower. This subspecies is endemic to Florida. I always find these out at the culvert.
